10. Allan McCullom

Over Ten Thousand Individual Copies

I can across Allan McCullom on the Art 21 website. From simply looking at images of his work it is very interesting and definitely has a repetitive quality. McCullom’s work would fall under that of sculptor. His work consists of taking an objects and mass-producing it but not all the objects are alike however they have similarities that make them a complete group. McCullom adds in objects that are similar to the others in the group but have slight differences to add interest to his work. However, sometimes he will feature the same exact object multiple times but just paint them different colors.

I really enjoy his work and I appreciate the repetitiveness of it because it creates great depth. His work is obviously a tedious process and it takes a great deal of patience to do achieve what he does but he does it flawlessly. On top of that, the scale and number at which some of his pieces/installations are made are quite amazing, some pieces featuring thousands of objects. McCullom does great work overall and his craftsmanship is commendable. Looking at his work also made think of different ways to display a collection for this final project, which has been helpful.

  1. Hi Cara,
Thanks for all the nice words!
    To change:
My name is spelled McCollum, not McCullom - and the picture you've titled as "Over Ten Thousand Individual Copies" is incorrect: the correct title is "Over Ten Thousand Individual Works."
    Thanks!
    Allan
